A complex conditional sentence

Post by dolby »

Say a clown is going to pull a prank tomorrow for which he may or may not be arrested, and we say that:

"It will be funny if the clown is arrested and instead of calling his lawyer he would blow his horn."

Or the same structure:

"It will be dangerous if she's threatened by a robber and instead of giving him her money she will say 'come and get it'".

I know something is wrong with both, but I get dizzy trying to figure it out.

"It will be funny if the clown is arrested and instead of calling his lawyer he would blow his horn."
-->"It will be funny if the clown is arrested and, instead of calling his lawyer, (he) BLOWS his horn."

"It will be dangerous if she's threatened by a robber and instead of giving him her money she will say 'come and get it'".
--> "It will be dangerous if she's threatened by a robber and, instead of giving him her money, (she) SAYS 'come and get it'.
