misfortune or misfortunes?

Post by tamguatlay »

The world will become like the times of Fuxi and Shennong. The people will be able to drive away disasters and misfortune and gain the ability to live long lives.

Shouldn't it be "misfortunes" instead, since the antecedent is "disasters"?

Thanks.

There is no grammatical relation between the two words and no reason to edit the sentence. (An antecedent in grammar is the word/phrase referred to by a pronoun.)
