Persons vs People: Context comparing an individual to everyone

Post by EnglishisGood »

Should I phrase this statements as either:

John was honestly one of the most kind and chill persons I have ever known.

or,

John was honestly one of the most kind and chill people I have ever known.

Advice would be helpful. Thank you.

(Not really a grammar issue, but...) Here, as well as in most contexts, use 'people'.

N.B. 'Chill' is not an adjective in standard English.
