Were to use 'here' in a sentence
My student was writing an essay and in explaining a quote, used the phrase 'We are here talking about'. I know instinctively that this is wrong and we could either say 'here, we are talking' or 'we are talking here' but that 'here' should not go between 'to be' and the main verb in this context. However, I do not know the reasoning for this. Could anyone please enlighten me as to why this is so I could explain it to my student? Thank you in advance.

Re: Were to use 'here' in a sentence
This sentence position for 'here' is, in fact, possible, but highly formal (normally, e.g. 'We are here discussing...').
For normal, conversational purposes, however, 'here' would indeed be more naturally used in the way that you describe.
