Complex transitive or ditransitive

Post by Agunim »

Hi! I would like to know whether the verb "push" used in the following sentence is a complex transitive verb or a ditransitive one.
The sentence is says:
"The situation pushed her to consider her decision."

Thanks in advance. :-D

Since it requires both a direct object (her) and some further complementation, 'push' here would qualify as a complex transitive verb.

However, since that complementation takes the form of an infinitive phrase (to consider her situation) and not an indirect object, it would not qualify as ditransitive.
