pro-verb does . help

Post by wackiest »

The need to belong is so innately human that no one can deny its importance. On some level we all want to be accepted by others — so much so that social exclusion causes the same areas of your brain to light up that physical pain does.

the last "does" . I really appreciate if you could explain what the "does" stands for.

two options 1. to light up 2. causes.

I think "does" stands for the verb because it has present tense in it. but some said it is not.

"Does" here represents the entire verb phrase "causes to light up".
