Phrasal verb

Post by toedrika »

Dear Professor,

What is the difference in meaning among these three sentences?

1. I work in a bank in London.
2. I work for a bank in London.
3. I work at a bank in London.

Thanks and regards

All are grammatically correct and all have typically the same meaning (with the obvious caveat that working IN a bank does not necessarily imply working FOR one.)

AmE speakers, however, would be less likely to use #3.
