1) He is too much a child.
2) They are too much children.

3) He is more a child than his younger siblings.

4) Pete and Harry are more children that their younger siblings.

1) He is too much a child.
--> He is too much OF a child.

2) They are too much children.
--> They are too CHILDISH.

3) He is more a child than his younger siblings.
--> He is more OF a child than his younger siblings.

4) Pete and Harry are more children that their younger siblings.
--> Pete and Harry are more CHILDISH THAN their younger siblings.

(Note that the construction in question cannot be used with plural NPs, necessitating rephrasing as above.)
