Sure. I do suppose so. It is possible to cry just by listening to songs. Songs denote what is on your mind and what you think. Take Maria Carie's song "Hero" for example, I somehow feel moved by the singing content and it keeps me walking along the way.

See this is why I love music so much. It can create a feeling in you that can bring you to tears. I have come close many times thanks to certain songs, not always great songs either but rather a certain song that says or means something to me at a low point in my life. Usually when things are bad for me I turn to music and find comfort there because the lyrics say something to me and it feels like the singer really gets how low I feel and wants to offer a shoulder to cry on. I have a number of songs lately that seem to be getting me through my day to day existence and keeping me sane.
The power of music is so great that at these moments there is no difference between good and bad music, just music that helps.

This song always makes me feel so sad for the girl in it. I imagine the pains she feels and the attempts she makes to feel wanted and loved...such sadness...

At Seventeen - Janis Ian.

I LEARNED THE TRUTH AT SEVENTEEN
THAT LOVE WAS MEANT FOR BEAUTY QUEENS
AND HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS WITH CLEAR SKINNED SMILES
WHO MARRIED YOUNG AND THEN RETIRED
THE VALENTINES I NEVER KNEW
THE FRIDAY NIGHT CHARADES OF YOUTH
WERE SPENT ON ONE MORE BEAUTIFUL
AT SEVENTEEN I LEARNED THE TRUTH

AND THOSE OF US WITH RAVAGED FACES
LACKING IN THE SOCIAL GRACES
DESPERATELY REMAINED AT HOME
INVENTING LOVERS ON THE PHONE
WHO CALLED TO SAY - COME DANCE WITH ME
AND MURMURED VAGUE OBSCENITIES
IT ISN'T ALL IT SEEMS AT SEVENTEEN

A BROWN EYED GIRL IN HAND ME DOWNS
WHOSE NAME I NEVER COULD PRONOUNCE
SAID - PITY PLEASE THE ONES WHO SERVE
THEY ONLY GET WHAT THEY DESERVE
THE RICH RELATIONED HOMETOWN QUEEN
MARRIES INTO WHAT SHE NEEDS
WITH A GUARANTEE OF COMPANY
AND HAVEN FOR THE ELDERLY

SO REMEMBER THOSE WHO WIN THE GAME
LOSE THE LOVE THEY SOUGHT TO GAIN
IN DEBENTURES OF QUALITY AND DUBIOUS INTEGRITY
THEIR SMALL-TOWN EYES WILL GAPE AT YOU
IN DULL SURPRISE WHEN PAYMENT DUE
EXCEEDS ACCOUNTS RECEIVED AT SEVENTEEN

TO THOSE OF US WHO KNEW THE PAIN
OF VALENTINES THAT NEVER CAME
AND THOSE WHOSE NAMES WERE NEVER CALLED
WHEN CHOOSING SIDES FOR BASKETBALL
IT WAS LONG AGO AND FAR AWAY
THE WORLD WAS YOUNGER THAN TODAY
WHEN DREAMS WERE ALL THEY GAVE FOR FREE
TO UGLY DUCKLING GIRLS LIKE ME

WE ALL PLAY THE GAME, AND WHEN WE DARE
WE CHEAT OURSELVES AT SOLITAIRE
INVENTING LOVERS ON THE PHONE
REPENTING OTHER LIVES UNKNOWN
THAT CALL AND SAY - COME ON, DANCE WITH ME
AND MURMUR VAGUE OBSCENITIES
AT UGLY GIRLS LIKE ME, AT SEVENTEEN

Yes, it is absoultely possible. I cry when the song remind me the truth that someone has gone and never come back again. Something I did does not valuable anymore, then I will cry.

Some songs might represent a period of time, example, Bee Gees and Carpenter might represent 70's, it may be your favourite song for you and your little love when you are teenage. The lyric will refresh your memory, not just for something that makes you cry, it may also remind something happy.

I chose "JUST ONCE" by James Ingram, here is the lyrics.

I did my best
But I guess my best wasn't good enough
'Cause here we are back where we were before
Seems nothing ever changes
We're back to being strangers
Wondering if we oughta stay
Or head on out the door

Just once can't we figure out what we keep doing wrong?
Why we never last for very long
What are we doing wrong?
Just once can't we find a way to finally make it right?
Make the magic last for more than just one night
If we could just get to it
I know we could break through it

I gave my all
But I think my all may have been too much
'Cause Lord knows we're not getting anywhere
Seems we're always blowing whatever we've got going
And seems at times with all we've got
We haven't got a prayer

Just once can't we figure out what we keep doing wrong?
Why the good times never last for very long
What are we doing wrong?
Just once can't we find a way to finally make it right?
And make the magic last for more than just one night
If we could just get to it
I know we could break through it

Just once I want to understand
Why it always come back to good-bye
Why can't we get ourselves in hand?
And admit to one another
That we're no good with out the other
Take the best and make it better
Find a way to stay together

Just once can't we find a way to finally make it right?
Make the magic last for more than just one night
I know we can break through it
If we could just get to it

Just once

If we could get to it

Just Once...

There is another song that makes me feel so sad, its called "I get along without you very well" and its about how a person who is suffering from a broken heart and is trying to face life without that special love. Well read for yourself and youwill see how sad it is.

"I Get Along Without You Very Well"

I get along without you very well
Of course I do
Except when soft rains fall
And drip from leaves, then I recall
The thrill of being sheltered in your arms
Of course, I do
But I get along without you very well

I've forgotten you just like I should
Of course I have
Except to hear your name
Or someone's laugh that is the same
But I've forgotten you just like I should

What a guy, what a fool am I
To think my breaking heart could kid the moon
What's in store? Should I phone once more?
No, it's best that I stick to my tune

I get along without you very well
Of course I do
Except perhaps in spring
But I should never think of spring
For that would surely break my heart in two

The song has been sung by many singers, my favourite versions are by Mary Coughlan from Ireland and Diana Krall...you feel they completely understand what Hoagy Carmichael wrote about. You feel the pain and loss and that will to try to carry on with life....but it's so hard as everything reminds them of that lost love.. so sad !!
