This is an easy and healthy recipe. It is my favourite.
STRACADENTI (make your teeth tired:))
500gr wheat flour
250gr whole almonds with skin
150 ml milk
½ lemon grated peel
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
Almond extract (if you wish).
300 gr wheat flour and 200 gr oatmeal
250 gr brown sugar
200 ml milk (or more)
all other ingredients as above
Put all ingredients without almonds into a bowl.
Mix until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Add the almonds and work gently.
Take the dough, a piece at a time, and roll it out gently with your hands until you have rolls about 3cm in diameter and 15cm long.
Place on grease cookie sheet.
Bake for 15 minutes at 350°F (175°C). Remove backed from oven and let stand until cool to the touch.
Using sharp knife, slice into 1,5cm slices. Place back on cookie sheet, sliced side down and back again for 15 minutes or until they are golden brown. Store in airtight container. These store well for weeks.
These are invented for dipping in sweet wine but I prefer without it.
