old idioms or fresh slang?

Hi!
i am new here.

i have found that many idoms are so out of date, and are no more used by native speakers.
so my question is how can we esl learners judge whether the idiom we come across is archiac or neo?

i am so :D to c your interest about idioms.

I am including here some idioms that British use in thier life

Here we go below, You we find ten examples

1- My sister's face turned beet red when I caught her singing in front of a mirror.
2-We found the poor guy black and blue near the train tracks.
3-The rules we gave the kids were black and white. No answering the phone or the door.
4-I always black out at the sight of blood.
5-My oldest brother was the black sheep in our family. He dropped out of school at fifteen.
6-Keiko hasn't worked a day in her life. She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth.
7-The kids were caught red handed stealing chocolate bars.
8-The models' conference was a golden opportunity for me to sell my beauty products.
9-I always wanted to go to university, but now I wish I had time to get a job. Grass is always greener on the other side.
10-Writing personal email in the office is a grey area that needs to be discussed at the next meeting.

the key here is to check the internet for the meaning of new idioms...it is also could to share notes with other teachers all the time...

i think its just a fresh slang and some are very funny to listen with theres lots of fresh slang word now aways specially gay lingos
