Title:Are Blogs protected by the law?

Main body: Blogs, according to some, have developed into a fourth source of news, after newspapers, radio, and television. A blog, or Web log, is of course an individual Web site used to post information.
So, can a blogger be considered a jouralist? Well for some, the answer is "no". Last Friday, for example, a Caliafornia judge ruled that three bloggers who published information about an unreleased Apple product would have to reveal the confidential source of their report.
This action will no doubt reverberate across the blogosphere because it could mean that at least under California law, bloggers aren't journalists.
Last week the British newspaper The Guardian ran an editorial with the headline "Bloggers: a law auto themselves".
The author said that, "Since Web contributors are not obliged to obey the same code of ethics as print or broadcast journalist, they should not get the same privileges."
Although have had some notable exclusives, it said, "much is wholly unreliable and there appears little comeback for such inaccuracies".
"There have also been some well-published episodes of celebrated bloggers being secretly paid for their endorsment, for example, of a political candidate."
It said that this form of "uncontrolled" Web reporting should not be considered in the same category as traditional journalism.
