U can't use either of the sentences, because i'm afraid u misunderstand the meaning of "to pass out". Check it!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the sentence:

"She passed out the books." It simply means she had a
pile of books and she gave one (or more) to each member
of a group of people.

The only thing wrong with the second sentence is
word order. It should be written:

"She passed them out."

It's sure that Jack is right.
In fact to pass out is more used as an intransitive verb, and in the case it means to lose consciousness.

Okay you can use it as a transitive verb like in your sentence. I think it's the old meaning (early 1900s)
