Should Turkey join the UE?

Post by Dixie »

I heard a debate on the TV this morning. Several people were talking about Turkey joining the European Union. I didn't hear much, but I heard someone said that the fact that Turkey had a Muslim population might be a problem.

What do you think about it? Should it join the Union or not?

I think it doesn't matter ..
maybe Turkey's location in ASIA ( geographer),
but if this matter relates at economy ,,maybe should
about muslims people I think all countries in ((UE)) have the muslims citizens.
so there is another problem

i think it could be a good idea to mix countries with different religions in the UE if they have other things in common and they think it could be interesting for both. anyway, religion is not supposed to affect politics...

hello, in my opinion the problem is not so much because the religion but because the respect of the human rights, and what it seems is that in turkey they don't respect them, specially if we talk about women's... but i have no sure about this, it's what i have heard somewhere.

I don't think it's merely a matter of religion, nowadays there are many muslims throughout Europe and it doesn't seem to be a problem, at least in Italy.

My doubt is in the fact that Turkey hasn't got a European culture and background both for its past and for its geographical position.
Besides, if Turkey joins the European Union, how would the Cyprus problem be solved?
