This is for the teachers here. What are some of your most recommended books for EFL teachers here! What do you think of Murphy's Intermediate English ?
If you had only one book when you first began teaching, what would it be?

As I recollect when you were on chair you told us (or it was Lennye) that long-long time ago you were going to teach Russians English. Have you eventually taken the plunge, Teacher Danyet - Defender of Galaxy?danyet wrote:This is for the teachers here. What are some of your most recommended books for EFL teachers here! That's him, Tora. And he's still thinking about it. Got any good English books you would recommend for an English teacher in Russia?Tora wrote:As I recollect when you were on chair you told us (or it was Lennye) that long-long time ago you were going to teach Russians English. I used Headway too (in High School)Tora wrote:I am a student not a teacher. I may share the text books I studied. We had Headway (Oxfor University Press) - I finished it on upper-intermediate level, though they definitely have advanced level. Now I'm on "fast track to CAE" (Longman) - it's much better I must say
Come on, come here

no, not at all - it is like summing-up book - everything is included, exercises are enough complicated, detailed grammar references, new vocabulary. My teacher doesn't like Advanced Headway as this one.LennyeTran wrote:You're getting your certificate or something? :?Tora wrote:I'm not entirely sure - Certificate of Advanced EnglishLennyeTran wrote:What's CAE? :?

Hope so, actually there are a lot of young people here who speak English well. I guess I'll take some courses specializing in translation in order to get a well-paid job here, anyhow it's a good stepLennyeTran wrote::? You'll get a good job with this level in Russia?Tora wrote:8 or 9, anyhow this year is supposed to be my final one 8)LennyeTran wrote: What's your level, I may ask?

Are you meaning Grammar Book of Longman with a black cover, Arale?Arale wrote:Cutting Edge for Grammar (In fact, all skills are included in the books, but they mainly focus on grammar.)
Language to go for communication.
Each kind has different levels from elementary to upper-advanced.
I prefer Longman's books.

But tt's for beginners. Of course if you sdudy English professionally, you should choose other textbooks. I used to prefer Cambridge books.
