What is your thought about Bio-fuel and Fossil-fuel ?

Post by Shimami »

In only Tokyo area, we could have been used the car-oil contained bio-fuel.
I don't drive a car very often but I'm very interested in these new energy and I want to know what the people in other countries think about these bio-energies.
Some energy-specialist are afraid that the transportation from other countries generate much more CO2 than fossil-fuel.
And my another concern about bio-energy is the exchange the food product to raw-material for bio-fuels.
The change of agliculture business increases the price of some fruits which are materials of beverage.
TV news has reported main Japanese beverage makers has been agreed the rise of fruit-made beverages.
That is recently situation of Japan.

I favor bio fuel with two hands. It's better since then I could grow my fuel my self and don't need to give my money to some one who maybe support terrorists with it.

I know there are some guys who have modified their cars diesel engine to working with used cooking oil. They get used oil from McDonald's and such with very cheap price.. Car working fine with it.. but there is also a cooking smell all the time. They say that's also not bad, but I think it would be not good for Americans since they are fat anyway and when they smell fried potatoes all the time they get Even more hungry.. or maybe then they even would build a Owen to car to cook food for them selves and oil to cars.

One of the main advantages of bio fuel is reduction of emissions of hotbed gases. It, however, does not mean that at combustion of bio fuel is formed less dioxide carbon (CO2). At combustion of biofuel in an atmosphere carbon which was earlier swallowed up with plants comes back, therefore the carbon balance of a planet remains constant. Minerals of fuel - absolutely other business: carbon in their structure millions years remained "inhibited" in terrestrial bowels. When it gets in an atmosphere, concentration of carbonic gas raises. Except bio fuel there's also hydrogen fuel, but this this topic not about that.

First off, Shimmy old boy, stop talking as if CO2 is a poison. It is not! More CO2 is given off into the atmosphere by trees than by mankind.

Secondly, there are plenty of ways to develop energy that we can use besides alternate and hybrid fuel. The problem is that we are prevented from developing them by powerful and greedy bad guys!
Here is one example of alternate energy that has been around for 35 years. At one time Professor Searl was put in jail for using his generator and his work and models, blueprints and designs were taken by soldiers and his house was burnt down.

Here is a discussion forum that you can be part of. Members of the Forum include Prof. John Searl himself, his biographer, people who are working on the Searl Generator. I know the guy personally who started the Discussion Forum. This is not a joke!

I appreciated hearing other opinions about bio-fuel.
I was not insist on only bad-influence of CO2, it is known CO2 plays a important role of preventing the earth being cold.
As far as I know many plants have both abilities of photosynthesis and respiration but other creature can not synthesize oxygen or fix carbon dioxide.
I didn't know about Prof. John Searl and his life seemed very hard. I haven't read through websites yet but I'm going to read them.

>At combustion of biofuel in an atmosphere carbon which was earlier swallowed up with plants comes back, therefore the carbon balance of a planet remains constant.

I hadn't known the difference of speed of carbon dioxide fixation.

I've heard that used cooking oil can utilized as a part of gas and in Japan non-profit-organization is correcting cooking oil but not regulatory.

gas.

Biofuel, as everything in life, has its good things and its bad things. Using biofuel, we could reduce emissions of greenhouse gases such as CO2 because gasoline would be burnt more efficently. Also the CO2 produced by the burn of biofuel could be absorbed by the corps sown to produce it, so, in that way, we could avoid generate more CO2. In other words, The CO2 produced by biofuels would be naturally recycled.

The problem of biofuel is not about its benefit for the environment, because it has been proven that it is a good alternative to drop the production of greenhouse gases. The problem is entirely moral, considering we have to choose between energy or food. Will mankind exchange food for biofuel? I mean Will we use more soil to feed our cars instead of feed others human beigs who doesn´t have anything to eat?. Or How many forrest will we have to cut down to sow corn or sugarcane to yield ethanol?.

To me, We need to find some balance between the soil we would use to produce raw materials to yield biofuel and the soil we would use to produce food.
The change of agliculture business increases the price of some fruits which are materials of beverage
In fact, after U.S announcement to use ethanol as an alternative against oil, corn prices in Mexico has gone up dramatically, bringing protests form consumers who couldn´t buy it to make tortillas, which is the mexican traditional food. And this is a good example about the moral dilemma I´m talking about. Do you know that some Mexican eat merely tortillas because they can´t pay another kind of food?.

Thank you for replying my subject.
I've got a few information about problems of bio-fuel material. I'm also afraid that bio-fuel industries would have those useful plants planted instead of foods or have a part of rain forest cut down for sugar-cane or corn fields. As you wrote, it is a problem people can't afford to buy their food for the change of agriculture.

It might be a small help to decrease the production of CO2, I'm trying to conserve energy like electricity or cooking gas.... but it is not perfect and there are many improvable points in my life.

I don't afraid that they could only plant oil plants for fuel and no food. They already now don't grow good food, but buy it in from outside. So I'm opposite I think, it may be good for farmers to survive. Here in Estonia example are a lot of fields that were used as fields in soviet-time and also before that time, covered by bushes and weed because it's not profitable to grow anything.. There's no big poor soviet union to feed anymore, and western countries have them self enough.

There's no need and probably not possible to move 100% to bio-fuel, but there already are a lot of areas whre it's already used. There are bush fields for cleaning waste-water and then those bushes are used as fuel for heating. Witch is twice ecological. There can actually use many things as fuel.. I have heard that even dead animals can use to produce fuel.I don't remember how much fuel can get from one dead cat, but it was surprisingly high amount.

You`re welcome. In fact I believe this is a very good to topic to discuss.

Well, To me it`s very important to become aware of this problem, in fact I believe you have given a giant leap, only by suggesting this topic to discuss. Is just like when you`re an alcoholic an you recognize your problem. On the other hand, I can feel that you are a little bit depressed or maybe with your hands tied about it. Well let me tell you that your efforts count, no matter if they can be seen as insignificant. Instead of getting down, try to convince as much people as you can that we have a serious problem with the environment. You shuold try to create conscience about it, discussing it with your parents, co-workers or classmates and try to give solutions such as those you has written.

Recently, I read an article about how we can be part of the solution to this problem, I mean, what measures we, as common people, can take to contribute to drop the amount of CO2 we`ve been launching to the atmosfere. Allow me to give you a few tips about it:
1) Change all the incandecent bulbs you have at home for the flourescent ones. In this way you can save 30% of the energy you`re using. I know they are much expensive than the other ones, but you`ll see a change when you check your electricity bill.

2) Isolate your home. 45% of the energy we use are wasted because our houses are not isolate enough.

3) If some of your co-workers or classmates live near you and usually all of you have to go to the same place, try to use one car. If everybody were doing this, we would get less cars on the streets and, in that way, we would pollute less and reduce the traffic jams.

I hope I would have been helpful....

Regards....

You have a point there. But I think the biggest mistake that Soviets made, and sadly humans being still continue making it, is to believe that they can grow whatever they want when the reality is that you have to grow what the soil can give to you. For example, In my country, we can`t sow wheat because the caracteristic of our soil are not good enough to allow its growing without any problem. Also our weather is very hot and it`s not the right environment for this plant grow.

That`s right because we don`t have enough land to sow to replace oil as a source of energy. I agree with you that we have a lot of alternative to replace fuel. I believe we have to focus our attention trying to get a widely set of solutions, such as solar panels, wind power or more recently, try to take advantage of the power of the sea.

I have switched all my light bulbs to fluorescent ones, already years ago. the price isn't so much higher, since they working longer. (Some are still exploded since the electronic components in side have had poor connection and caused shortcuts)
Still I'm not enough careful, about saving energy. Usually I let my computer on, for the whole day, even if don't use it.

Even more effective and expensive are LED (light-emitting diode) bulbs. Lately I have seen some stores offering them. I'm not sure, if they give good enough eye friendly light though..

Here we have very injurious electricity. Since all is produce from fossil fuel (oil shale) It's harmful many ways, the burning of it produces CO2 and also mining is harmful for nature the old mine dungeons collapse and cause earth crash in and the fresh water get also polluted. They will close that power-plant soon, but seems they haven't decided yet what they build instead. Seems it will be atomic power..

Water pollution and green-house problems are both important things
I am also economizing water like bathing or washing dishes.

This weekend, I will checked whether I'm using fluorescent bulb or not.
