Go toe-to-toe ?

Post by nuni »

Dear All,

Please help me with the idiom 'go toe-to-toe'. Actually, I've searched the meaning of the idiom but I'm still not sure about it.

"During a press conference in late January of that year to announce the hiring of Ailes, Murdoch admitted that going toe-to-toe with CNN."

Thanks for your help~

Going toe-to-toe with somebody ~ could be arguing with somebody by way of not giving him any pardon about the matter discussed.
