2010, how is it said by native english speakers?

Post by Karo »

I have always said: two thousand and one, two thousand and two, etc etc... but then someone told me that as from 2010 it is possible to say: twenty ten, twenty eleven, twenty twelve?
Has usage made it possible to say 'twenty ten'?
Tell me what you know.
Thanks.

There is no need to reinvent the wheel.

For 1810 we say eighteen ten.
For 1910 we say nineteen ten.
For 2010 we say twenty ten...
twenty eleven, twenty eighteen, twenty twenty, twenty twenty-five etc

There are some other possibilities, but the above way is probably most common.
