Below is a short conversation I wrote yesterday. My friend asked me to delete "about" from the sentence "I'm sorry to hear about that." In addition to what she suggested, please give me your advice in regard to this conversation.
A: What's the matter? You look so depressed.
B: I missed the cooking contest. I thought it's today.
A: Really, I'm sorry to hear about that.
B: I'd been preparing for it. But now, it's too late. I'm such an idiot.
A: That's not the end of the world. Why not look on the bright side.
