Present perfect continous VS. simple

Post by SARDORBEK »

Hello,DEAR ALAN!

a) Komil is exhausted. He has been running.
b) Your eyes are red. Have you been crying?

Instead of continuous can I use simple preserving correct grammar and meaning?
e.g.

Komil is exhausted. He has run.
Your eyes are red. Have you cried?

If I can use the simple, does the meaning change then?

Many thanks...

No, we would not use simple forms in these cases.

You should find information on the use of the present perfect continuous in the EFL Learning Centre.
