Article Use. Which Sentence is Correct?

Post by Articlhp »

Hello this post is rather simple. I have two sets of sentences and I am curious which one is correct for each pairing. If anyone could provide an explanation for why the correct one is correct I would appreciate it as well. Thanks in advance guys!

1)
a) I have a tape measure.
b) I have tape measure.

2)
a) I have a measuring tape.
b) I have measuring tape

All possible except (1b), since 'tape measure' is an exclusively countable (compound) noun.
