English people do not play basketball, why?

Post by SitangCampus »

US people did not play football (soccer), but later after the 1994 World Cup which was held in the US, and with the Latin American people coming in, the population of football is growing, and the US women team got the world champions too.

But for English people, they do not care for basketball, they only like football, rugby and cricket. The cricket game is very confusing or simply sissy to some point, I tried to understand the rules but got nowhere. Only Indian, Bangalese, Sri Lankans and Pakistani people enjoy it very much, but these countries are very weak as a whole in Olympics.

Yes, we often see the Chinese excel at it. Do they call it "ping pong"?

Table tennis is a game, like many other sports games popular in the world now, that has its origin from the English Isles. But few English people now play this game.

British people mainly are elegant and graceful, as we know, many people elsewhere like to speak English with the British accent. I am much amazed by the debates going on in the Westminster Abbey through BBC, there are too many high quality TV or radio hosts if judging by their accents only.

But in the football stadiums, there are so many crazy hooligan fans, they are also part of the British culture that they do not like other peoples to know about.

Perhaps there is not so much difference between the football stadia and Westminster

Btw, Westminster Abbey is a church in the Westminster area. Political debates take place in the Houses of Parliament, also in the Westminster area.

yes. it is translated from chinese. honestly, i like the chinese name more than the english one. 'table tennis' sounds ordinary. furthermore, 'ping pong' looks interesting and fun. which name do you prefer?

I agree with you Sass. I like "ping pong". It's a fun name, and it sounds like the game. So it's onomatopoeic

Let me give you a short answer to this burning question. It is a common fact that people living in the United States or United Kingdom love sports like football etc but not much for basketball.

Simply due to lack of awareness dude, basketball has recently been invented in the US and this is the main reason why you won't see many British players in NBA tournaments. Furthermore, basketball is considered a popular sport in most countries around the world like you mentioned in Indiana or other countries, but in the US or the UK, basketball has struggled to grow. However, in other European countries, you will see, millions of people play and watch basketball.
On basketballowl, you’ll be able to find some great games and tons of articles that cover all sorts of topics from rules, history, reviews, etc., all subjects that you need when starting out.

It looks like you are a trader of baskeball, I have visited the site you list here and found it interesting.

But why did you say " in Indiana or other countries"? Isn't Indiana one of the 50 states of the US?

And you also said that in the US baskeball struggled to grow, but as far as I know NBA has the largest audience there and even across the Pacific in China.

In the remote rural areas of China from which youths migrate to work in cities around the year, there are championship of basketball games held at about the time of Chinese New Year when the young people return home, drawing huge crowd to the court, something like the Super Bowl on Thanksgiving Day or even hotter.

My personal point of view is that basketball is not as popular a sport in Britain as it is in the USA. There are more developed sports like football or cricket. This is the preference and interests of each nation.

Thank you for your message and for visiting my site. You are correct that Indiana is a state in the United States. When I mentioned "in Indiana or other countries," I was referring to the fact that basketball is a popular sport globally and is played in many countries around the world, not just in the US.

As for the popularity of basketball in the US, it is true that the NBA is a very successful and popular league with a large audience both within the US and internationally. However, I was referring to the fact that basketball has struggled to gain as much popularity in some parts of the US compared to other sports such as football and baseball.

It is sad that the game of basketball is meant for the tall people, before whom the short have no chance at all.
But in football, things are different, Messi and Maradona, the two Argentinian players who are called King of Football, are less than 170 centimeters. If the two were placed on the court of basketball, they could only faint with taking in too much of the smell of the armpits of the tall guys.

While basketball might not be as prevalent in English culture as some other sports, it's not entirely accurate to say that English people don't play basketball. Basketball has a growing presence in the UK, with leagues, clubs, and a developing basketball community. If you're curious about the game's popularity and want to explore more, you might find some interesting insights and tips related to basketball in Italy through the provided link.
