Urgent: ??Idiomatic expressions inThe How to be British

Post by uclvariant »

I need help with the following idiomatic expressions in the book The How to be British Collection.
I could not have a clear image of the sentence below:

Unit 18 Real English
Expressions to learn
'E nicked it off a lorry and now the coppers 'ave done 'im' for it.

Does it mean that he stole something from a lorry and the policemen have caught him for stealing?
(No antecedent of 'it' specified)

He stole it from a truck and now the police have arrested him (and charged him?) for stealing it.
No antecedent of 'it' specified
Which "it" do you mean? It1 must be from the previous sentence. It2 is the act of stealing or “nicking”.

Dear Firefox,

Thank you for your reply to my query. I really appreciate for your answer and quick response. Now I have a very clear image about the antecedent of the two pronouns 'it'.
