Pluralizing and lists

Post by bmountjoy »

Hello,

I was writing a sentence today and I'm not sure whether it needed to be plural or not...

I wrote the following in reference to a recurring meeting:
That will be my preferred weekly time and place.

I can't imagine I should have written:
These will be my preferred weekly time and place.

I'm absolutely sure I should not have written:
These will be my preferred weekly times and places.

I keep getting tripped up on the rules that govern pluralizing and lists. Any advice?

Strictly speaking, #2 is correct, since the referent is plural.

However, esp. informally, #1 would not be considered exceptionable.
