subjunctive mood (present)

Hi,

I came across a comment on my grammar book about subjunctive mood.

example sentence: It is necessary that he go there at once.

In the book, it says in American English, subjunctive mood is used here, but in UK, it is considered to be very formal.

Since I'm an American English speaker but taking a Cambridge fluency test soon, I am wondering how it is actually used in the UK.

Relatively little, but most speakers would probably recognize it as formally/classically correct.

However, the chances of your being corrected for failing to use it in the UK are close to zero!
