rippling by/punctuation

Post by navit »

1) We are searching for a note, pure and easy, playing so free, just like a breath rippling by.
2) We are searching for a note, pure and easy, playing so free, just like a breath, rippling by.

Except for the first two words, which I added in order to have a full sentence, everything is from a song by the British rock band The Who.

I think '1' is the way it is supposed to be written. The breath is rippling by. I was wondering if '2' was possible. In '2' the note would be rippling by.

Is '2' possible?

Gratefully,

From the context, 1 seems to be correctly punctuated and the breath is rippling by. 2 seems ambiguous.
