Here's a basic recipe to get you started:
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups warm water (around 110°F)
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- Pizza sauce
- Mozzarella cheese
- Toppings of your choice (pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, etc.)
Instructions:
1. In a mixing bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
2. Add the flour, olive oil, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until the dough comes together.
3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
5. Preheat your oven to the highest temperature (usually around 500°F).
6. Punch down the dough and divide it into two pieces for thin crust pizzas or leave it as one for a thicker crust. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
7. Place the rolled-out dough on a baking sheet or pizza stone. Spread pizza sauce over the dough, then add your desired toppings and cheese.
8. Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
9. Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, slice, and enjoy!
