Wozi, an iOS app to learn high usage frequency unknown words

Post by woziapp »

Please continue reading if English is your second language and have an existing vocabulary size of around 3,000 to 5,000. You might find this free iOS app helpful.

----

Hello, everyone. I am the creator of Wozi, a free iOS word builder app, https://apps.apple.com/app/id1536585848

English is my second language. I totally have no problem communicating with coworkers in professional settings; However, I still feel it's not that smooth to understand others and express my ideal precisely when the context switches to areas I am unfamiliar with. For example, in a daily random chat, there would be common words every native speaker knows, but I do not, which would make the communication difficult. Therefore, I built an app in my spare time and tried to solve my problem.

> Wozi is an app that helps you to learn the words you need the most, those unknown words with high usage frequency

Not all words are equally important for ESL learners since some words are used way more frequently than others, unlike other word builders, which force you to remember a vocabulary list. Wozi uses a smart algorithm to pick the word you most likely do not know and at the same time ranked at the highest position in the English usage frequency list (COCA, Corpus of Contemporary American English). By knowing these missing words, you can understand and communicate better in your day-to-day life since these words are more likely to be used by others.

Here is a list of things I had in mind when I was building the app,

- Learn new words I would be able to use and see in real life
- Learn new words using its English definition (not in my native language)
- Learn new words from sample sentences (not a word to definition pair alone)
- Remember and review new words in a smart way (spaced repetition)

If you want to give this app a try, you can join download it at https://apps.apple.com/app/id1536585848

You can also find me at Wozi Discord https://discord.gg/JPbFWDShBH. Please feel free to leave comments, suggestions, anything! Happy to answer your questions. I hope you will enjoy using my app. Thank you! ❤️

Some countries get a message saying “This app is currently not available in your country”.

Maybe that’s the problem?
