English grammar correction

1. Ty3-gypsy retro transposons are widely spread in plant kingdom, occupy the major portion of the genome.
2. Ty3-gypsy retro transposons are widely spread in plant kingdom, occupies the major portion of the genome.

Which above sentence is correct and why?

Both sentences are wrong. Possibly you mean:

Ty3-gypsy retro transposons are widely spread in the plant kingdom, occupying the major portion of the genome.

OR

Ty3-gypsy retro transposons are widely spread in the plant kingdom, occupying a major portion of the genome.

1. An only single fragment belonged to LTR region.
2. Analysis indicated that the copy number of Ty3-gypsy fragments were high among all TEs.

Are these above sentences right?
