inversion

Post by navit »

Are these sentences correct:
1) One day will come a man into your life.
2) One day there will come a man into your life.

3) Then came a man into her life.
4) Then there came a man into her life.

Are they archaic?

Gratefully,

1: unacceptable rather than archaic
2 & 4: somewhat formal/literary, but not archaic
3: borderline unacceptable ('came' in such an inverted construction would not normally be postmodified).
