Is homework beneficial or detrimental to students' learning?

It depends when it is introduced.

To facilitate self-learning and the concept of meeting deadlines, homework is definitely beneficial.

If homework didn't exist, a lot of students would fall behind because of the lack of motivation/insistence to do continued learning outside of school. It will be down to the parents approach.

This is also a point of view that is applied everywhere. I find that giving homework not only avoids students being passive but also helps them develop their thinking and creativity.
