Hi all,
This is an example sentence:
Bisphenol A compounded in plastics has two phenolic hydroxyl groups.
Does "Bisphenol A compounded in plastics" sound to you "Bisphenol A is a material usually compounded in plastics"?
Is it usual that you don't use "the" with Bisphenol A, which is the name of a chemical substance?

Point 1: I cannot deduce from the given sentence whether it is usually compounded in plastics or not, though it suggests to me that it often is.
Point 2: Yes, since it is a name, “the” is not used.

Re: Question about article
Both points are well clarified - chemical names like Bisphenol A are treated like proper nouns and don't take "the", and the sentence structure suggests but doesn't explicitly state that this is a common use of the compound in plastics.
