This is an excerpt from an interview about one of the Harry Potter movies:
‘The way that the script read, if you read it on the page, it seemed like it was upbeat,’ Biffa said. ‘It read like two teenagers going for it. But once David explained the nuances, I realized it had to be quite uplifting, but not too pointedly romantic.’
I'm not too sure what 'but not too pointedly romantic' means in this context:
1. Uplifting, but not explicitly romantic.
2. Uplifting, and romantic in a subtle way.
3. Uplifting, but not explicitly romantic. However with the possibility of being slightly romantic.
"Not too pointedly romantic."
