Hi,

"Data for the year 2025" and "Data for year 2025".

In the second instance I omitted "the" deliberately because of being guided by the rule that if a noun precedes a number, it goes without an article, like in case with "room 25".

Please advise which sentence is correct and why.

First of all, the examples you give are not "sentences". Nor do they show the full context. They could be column headings in an Excel spreadsheet, but only you know that. Please always give full context.

Having said that, both are possible.
