Meaning

You can say this if you're comforting someone who's sad or afraid.

For example

  • "I really loved him, Mum."
    "Come on, love. You'll find another boyfriend. You'll see."

  • "I'm scared, Daddy."
    "Come on, sweetie. It's only a storm. It'll be over soon."

Note:
"Come on" has many meanings. For some, it's said loudly or impatiently, but in this case it's always said softly and gently.
