heard it all before

This page is about the conversational phrase heard it all before


You can say this if you've the heard the same ideas, promises, excuses, etc. in the past, and you're no longer impressed by them.

For example

  • "They had no new ideas. I'd heard it all before a thousand times."

  • "But I didn't mean to do it."
    "We've heard it all before, son, so save your breath. You're under arrest."

Always used in one of the perfect tenses.
