Meaning

You can say this if you think what someone's said or done is wrong.

For example

  • "Harry's not a very good father."
    "I beg your pardon. He's a wonderful father."

  • When a woman went straight to the counter without waiting, I said, "I beg your pardon. You weren't next in line."

Note:
You can also use "Excuse me" and "Pardon me" in the same way.
