You can say this to show you agree with a negative statement, esp. if you feel pressured to agree, or you don't care very much.

For example

  • "You don't really believe in ghosts, do you?"
    "No, I guess not."

  • "We shouldn't be putting all those refugees in jail, should we?"
    "I don't know. I guess not."
