Meaning

You can say this if you want somebody to wait for a very short time.

For example

  • "Can I speak to the manager, please?"
    "Just a minute, sir. I'll see if she's available."

  • We were playing cards when Jack's phone rang. "Just a moment," he said. "I have to take this."

Note:
Also "just a second" and "just a sec" (informal)
