Meaning

You can say this if you're disappointed that something's true, or disappointed that something's happened or will happen.

For example

  • "You're going home tomorrow, aren't you?"
    "Yes, more's the pity. I love it here in Thailand."

  • "Is the movie still showing?"
    "No, more's the pity. I would've liked to see it but it finished yesterday."
