Meaning

You can use this to apologize for bumping into someone, interrupting someone, making a rude noise, or doing anything else that might upset someone.

For example

  • Just after he'd bumped into me, he smiled and said, "Pardon me."

  • After Kate's phone started ringing, she said, "Pardon me," and turned it off.
