Meaning

You can say this if you don't believe someone because you know they're only joking.

For example

  • "My name's Ivor Biggen, teacher."
    "Very funny! Now what's your real name, son?"

  • "Where's your passport? It isn't here!"
    "What? Oh, right. Very funny! Just give it to me, will you!"

Note:
Said with an ironic tone because the speaker doesn't really think something is funny.
