you win
INFORMAL
This page is about the conversational phrase you win
Meaning
You can say this if you're tired of trying to convince someone of something.
For example
- "I hate action movies! They're for teenage boys, not adults like us!"
"All right, you win. I'll sit through another romantic comedy." - "But climate scientists fabricated that data to get more research grants!"
"OK, you win! I give up. Believe as much of that nonsense as you like, mate!"
Can also be used literally, as in when someone knows they've lost a fight and they say "That's enough. You win!"
