Meaning

You can say this if you're tired of trying to convince someone of something.

For example

  • "I hate action movies! They're for teenage boys, not adults like us!"
    "All right, you win. I'll sit through another romantic comedy."

  • "But climate scientists fabricated that data to get more research grants!"
    "OK, you win! I give up. Believe as much of that nonsense as you like, mate!"

Note:
Can also be used literally, as in when someone knows they've lost a fight and they say "That's enough. You win!"
