Meaning: very conservative and opposed to social reform

For example:

  • Those reactionary old right-wingers voted against all our reforms, of course.

  • Reactionary old fools like George don't believe in anything except "God and country".

Note: Mostly used by left-wing or progressive people to describe right-wing or conservative people.
