Meaning: If you have a night on the town, or go out on the town, you go out for dinner and then go to a show or a dance club or some other entertainment venue.

For example:

  • Let's go out for a night on the town. We haven't been out for ages.

  • It's quite common for businessmen to take their colleagues out on the town.
