Long quote:
"History is more or less bunk. It's tradition. We don't want tradition. We want to live in the present, and the only history that is worth a tinker's damn is the history that we make today."

Henry Ford expressed the same idea on various occasions and in various ways. The quote shown above comes from an interview with Charles N. Wheeler in the Chicago Tribune of 25 May 1916. Another way in which he sometimes expressed this was simply, "History is bunk."
