This word is an abbreviation of the plural noun "pictures", and its use is governed by the same grammatical rules that apply to any plural non-count noun. You cannot say "a pix", and you cannot further pluralize the word by adding "es". You can say "many pix" or "lots of pix", but not "lots of pixes".
