Meaning

fairly drunk, moderately inebriated

For example

  • We'd been drinking for a couple of hours and we were all a bit tight, but no-one was falling-down drunk.

  • Barry drinks a lot, and he often gets a bit tight by the end of the evening, but he never gets really drunk.

Note:
This word implies someone is drunk, but not so drunk that they can no longer control their movements. Someone who is tight can still walk in a fairly straight line and speak without slurring too much.
