a person who's in very poor condition physically or mentally

For example

  • Having a seriously ill child has turned Maggie into a nervous wreck.

  • We watched a TV show on drug abuse last night, and some of the young people were total wrecks. They looked terrible and some had obviously damaged their brains with the drugs. It was really sad.
