Thank you so much for your reply. Today was even worse; even when speaking, he pauses and chews his fingernails. He had a runny nose today, and it was unbearable to watch him. Nothing seems to help. Dear forum members, I know that this is a bit unorthodox, but how do I address a student who has a nervous (and rather unclean) habit. He doesn't focus in class. Thank you!!! Your suggested tactics worked! I attended a workshop that also addressed the same issue and reccomended clarifying the purpose of the course;many students simply forget that we have two hours to teach a large group basics that they all can use.
